We offer our preserves under two labels. One is an outline drawing of the Chatham Lighthouse and identifies us as THE CHATHAM JAM AND JELLY SHOP with handwritten labels showing variety. The other label identifies us as CAPE COD PRESERVES and has a clippership under sail with the variety and size printed on the front label. For twenty years we have sold exclusively as THE CHATHAM JAM AND JELLY SHOP. To meet requests for a less homemade look we have received a trademark for CAPE COD PRESERVES. This label identifies our preserves with New England and an Early American theme. We chose the Clippership as the logo for the new label because in the 1840's and 1850's Cape Cod built clipper ships. American clippers brought world markets to a new and growing country. World records for speed between world ports were rountinely broken and many times by Cape Cod Captains. The Clipper represents entrepreneurial competitveness, endeavor and innovation. Because pineapples, bananas, and tea all came to the United States with a freshness and quality that was impossible with slower ships. Another result of this burgeoning world wide trade with Europe and the Far East was the introduction of new fruits to the tables of America. We have a product with a proven record. A home made product that identifies itself as a product of Cape Cod.
